Adding the MET Connect Root CA

MET Connect is a trusted Certificate Authority for issuing Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificates for your private Control System Networks.

SSL Certificates are used to help prove that the device you are connecting to is indeed the intended device and that you're not the subject of a man-in-the-middle cyber attack.

When using the various services of the MET Connect Platform, you need to first establish a root of trust by instructing your web browser to trust the MET Connect Root Certificate.

This can be downloaded securely from here:

Once you have downloaded and saved this .crt file, follow the instructions for your specific web browser:

Chrome:
 
paste in the following text in your main web address bar and hit enter:
 
chrome://settings/security
 
click on "Manage Certificates"
click on "Authorities" tab
click on "Import"
 
Select "MET_Connect_root_CA.crt"
 
Tick all the boxes and click OK
 
Job Done!
 
Now your web browser will recognise any MET Connect site or server as trusted.
 
Firefox:
 
paste in the following text in your main web address bar and hit enter:
 
about:preferences#privacy
 
click on "View Certificates..." box
 
click on the "Authorities" tab
 
click on "Import..."
 
 
Select "MET_Connect_root_CA.crt"
 
Tick all the boxes and click OK then OK
 
Job Done!
 
Now your web browser will recognise any MET Connect site or server as trusted.
